Adjustable bed frame

Bed frames are utilized for supporting either a mattress or a combination of box springs and mattress. Adjustable beds have long been recognized as being helpful in relieving muscle tension and fatigue. Also, by permitting the separate adjustment of the inclination of the head portion and the foot portion, the user is able to configure the bed to best meet the individual comfort needs of the body. Bed frames for supporting a box spring and mattress above a floor typically include a pair of spaced, parallel, horizontally disposed side rails, and a pair of spaced, parallel, horizontally disposed end rails which extend substantially transversely between the side rails for holding the side rails in spaced, parallel relationship. The end rails typically comprise a pair of elements which are locked together. Generally, bed frames which are used to support box springs consist of support elements arranged peripherally with respect to opposite sides of the box springs which they support. These bed frames are often adjustable by means of changing the length of the end tie elements. Adjustable bed frames may include telescoping head and foot sections that permit the bed frames to accommodate various widths.
