Inflatable mattress frame

Inflatable devices are commonly used for a number of different purposes. Inflatable devices are used as mattresses, floatation devices, pool rafts, water toys, temporary shelters and emergency devices. Air mattresses have enjoyed wide popularity for a number of reasons. When not in use, the air mattress is capable of being deflated to a substantially two-dimensional geometry which can be folded compactly and stored and transported quite easily. Inflatable mattresses are often used as alternatives to standard box spring or coiled spring mattresses, and in some cases as alternatives to sleep sofas, particularly where portability of the mattress is required. Inflatable air mattresses are popular because they are portable and have a relatively low cost as compared to traditional mattresses. Further, inflatable air mattress designs have been developed to mimic the appearance and comfort provided by traditional two-layered, pillow-top mattresses. Mattresses for "sleep sofas" are thinner versions of standard spring or foam mattresses, which allow the mattress to be folded, along with a complex folding mechanism, for storage within the frame of the sleep sofa. Inflatable mattresses typically include a fluid valve for inflating and deflating the mattress, which is connectable to a fluid pump such as an air pump. These mattresses are commonly constructed of polymeric materials which is lightweight for transfer, and foldable for storage when the mattress is not in use. When inflated, air mattresses provide the user with a generally high level of comfort as the user is literally supported upon a cushion of air isolating the user from what would be an otherwise uncomfortable sleeping surface such as natural terrain encountered on a typical camping excursion.
