Kitchen island

As kitchens expand in size, the need for space-efficient appliances is rapidly becoming a thing of the past. Kitchen island systems and larger countertops all provide ample space for wider, larger capacity, appliances. In many kitchen arrangements, the kitchen island serves as a secondary dining surface depending upon particular requirements and design constraints. Such countertop and tabletop assemblies are generally fixed at a fairly standard height that is often established by the height of a cabinet base upon which the surface is supported. Kitchen islands often include a gas or electric stove top for cooking. A kitchen island countertop in a residence may be positioned at a different height than the counter of a bar in a tavern.
