Armchair

Chairs have been developed for centuries for users to sit thereon. Chairs which have arm rests are desirable for many applications since the sidearms reduce fatigue of the person sitting in the chair and therefore increase the ability of the sitter to concentrate. In order to provide comfort for the users, various armchairs having all sorts of accessories are thus introduced to the market. In several types of armchairs, the variable position is obtained by the static adjustments provided, as well as by the dynamic features of the peculiar elastic deformability of the seat or back structure or elastic means interposed between the structural elements of the chair. Arms of an armchair are provided for hands to rest thereon. Generally, arms of armchairs are not provided with holding frames for supporting cups, bottles or the like, although arms of armchairs in a train or a bus are provided with ash-trays. Chairs having arms adjustable in respect of height are very popular because the sitter can rest their arms comfortably on the chair arms having been adjusted to a desired height. Many types of armchairs can be put into two positions: that of an ordinary chair with arms, seat, and back normally in place for a comfortable sitting position and a chaise longue intended to give the user complete support in a generally horizontal position with an attached headrest and legrest, which can be connected to the armchair frame. The ergonomic armchair refers to those pieces of seating furniture offering outstanding anatomical support and further allowing easy anatomical modification and repositioning, in accordance with the movements and wishes of the user. Stackable chairs have usually been so designed that when nested in a stack there was considerable vertical space between them, often two or three inches. Some armchairs feature luxurious faux leather and fabric. Many of the decor items such as the hand-carved screens, furniture, etched vases and rugs are made by traditional methods.
