Glider rocker
Besides the soothing rocking motion, rockers chairs are ideal for reading, knitting, sewing, and other seated tasks. Glider chairs, similar to rocking chairs, provide a soothing repetitive rocking type motion, but unlike rocking chairs, they do not wear through carpet from repeated rocking in the same place. Glider chairs are ideal for almost any room in the house, its sturdy birch hardwood structure offers the safety and comfort with an easy glider function. The glider rocker has become a popular article of furniture, particularly for new mothers who are nursing their infants. The smooth gliding action of such rockers is quite soothing, not only to the infant, but also to the mother as well. Such rockers are also commonly provided with mating or matching ottomans, which include the same gliding action. Gliders provide single or multiple person seating that is generally suspended so that it may rock or swing. Often the seating surface is formed by a plurality of parallel slats or panels. The slats are typically wood. A glider chair consists of a base coupled to a seat in such a way as to allow the seat to swing forward and backward while the base remains stationary. Parallel arms pivotally connected to the base and seat are commonly used to achieve the desired swinging motion of the seat. Sometimes a glider chair will have an intermediate movable portion between the seat and the base so that when the chair is actively gliding the seat remains in a relatively horizontal position with respect to the base. In this case, parallel arms would extend between the intermediate movable portion and the base. A glider typically has a metal, enclosed ball bearing for smooth glide motion. It has arm cushions which have pockets for paper, magazines and TV remote. The back and seat cushions are machine washable. Combining smooth and effortless rocking and swivel motions, this glider rocker works with you to help soothe your little one with movement.
