Baby crib

The use and utility of baby cribs has long been established. Typically, baby cribs are used during the infancy stage of a child. Baby cribs generally include a bedstead having four end posts defining four corners of the crib assembly. A spring frame for supporting a mattress thereon is supported from the end posts. The cribs typically have vertical rails to prevent the baby from falling out of bed while sleeping. These rails are usually located such that a baby can often put his or her head, arms and/or legs through the space between two rails or between the rails and mattress which may cause injury to the baby. The rails are also hard enough that when a baby falls against the rails it may injure the baby. The most widely used crib is a rigid four-wall structure standing on four legs, one of the walls being vertically slidable so as to permit easy access to the baby. Infant and baby cribs are traditionally designed with two side walls and two end walls that are made up of slats and/or panels connected together via top and bottom rails. The side walls and end walls are generally joined at the corners by legs that begin proximate the top rail and extend below the bottom rails. Generally, a crib mattress rests on a spring-supported surface that is fastened to the bottom rails. Cribs with guard rails on each side have been known for many years. Cribs with drop-sides where one side or both are supported on guide rods for vertical movement are also well known. Cribs with vertically adjustable sides to enable convenient servicing of a child in the crib, and with an adjustable raised mattress platform to accommodate children of different ages, are well known. The raised mattress platform provides storage space beneath the crib. Most baby cribs comprise a mattress located within a bed frame having four sides, with each side comprising vertical bars positioned between a top molding and a bottom molding. Baby crib bumpers are used to prevent babies from hitting the rails with their heads and injuring themselves. The baby crib bumpers also assist in reducing the possibility of a baby being able to put his or her head, arms, and/or legs through the spaces between the rails. These baby crib bumpers are typically anchored to the rails with ties.
