Children's playhouse
Children have the imaginative capacity to create playthings from the most mundane objects. Likewise, at times it would seem that they have a limitless capacity to learn. As a result, both toy makers and educators have tried to capitalize on these capabilities for a variety of reasons. Playhouses provide much enjoyment for children because they simulate the ownership of a house which can be lived in and because they simulate exclusive possession in that the house may have play furnishings and small scale appurtenances. There have been numerous doll houses and playhouses designed for children to help instruct children about house arrangements and to assist in imagination development of children. Many different playhouses have been designed for children's enjoyment. Usually the pieces of these playhouses fit together in a predetermined configuration allowing little variation in the buildings constructed. Children's playhouses in the form of doll houses particularly designed for use by girls, forts designed for use by boys, castles, and the like, are very popular with children and are in widespread use today.
