Beach chair

There is widespread interest in recreational or leisure time visits to beaches. For more comfortable relaxation at the beach, particularly a sandy beach, a beach chair, usually a foldable fight-weight construction, is brought to the beach. Sand beach chairs typically have relatively short legs that position the chair seat just above the beach surface so that the user sits with legs extended, e.g., for better sunning exposure. Such a chair provides support for a user's back and is more comfortable than lying directly on a beach surface using a beach towel. There are numerous factors to be considered in the design of collapsible beach chairs. The chair must provide sufficient support to be comfortable for the user. Typical beach chairs include a back support frame upon which is mounted a flexible back support, a seat support frame and a mounted flexible seat as well as a cross frame member that is pivotally mounted between the back support frame and the seat support frame which establishes the angular seating position between the back support and the seat support. There are a large number and variety of collapsible beach chairs available for use by the public. Some widely known chairs of this nature include folding lawn furniture and beach chairs. Such chairs provide the advantage of space efficient transport and storage by being collapsible while also offering simple conversion into an effective upright condition for sitting. Some collapsible beach chairs have rigid mutually pivotable metal frames spanned by plastic or fabric material strips serving as the body support for the user. The rigid metal frames limit the extent to which the chair can be folded for convenient transportability. A portable knockdown beach chair includes a cylindrical canvas band adapted to be placed on the beach and filled with sand. A flap is secured to the band and is adapted to extend across the sand filling the band to form a seat for the user.
