Outdoor canopy
For those who work and play in the outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, boating, stadium watching, camping, beach going, farming, gardening, relaxing and the like, where the activity places the individual in a situation where the elements of weather such as excessive sunlight, wind and rain, or the presence of insects, cause an individual discomfort or impose excessively adverse weather or environmental conditions, a broad array of inventions have been developed to offer various levels of protection from those conditions. For human health, as well as human comfort, it is desirable to provide a sunshade above many outdoor gathering and recreation areas. Such areas include playgrounds, sports fields, parking lots, swimming pool decks, and other outdoor commercial areas. A fair amount of equipment is needed when camping in order to stay safe, comfortable, and warm. The type of gear a person may bring while camping depends on how rough of an experience the individual desires. Tents, cookware, matches, portable stoves, flashlights, lanterns, and sleeping bags are just some of the equipment from which a camper may choose. Temporary shelters that can be easily transported and rapidly set up at emergency sites can be particularly useful in providing temporary care and housing. Such shelters can also be useful for non-emergency outdoor gatherings, such as for temporary military posts, field trips, and the like. Canopy systems have been developed in the past for awning and tent-like applications, providing protection for such things as children's playsets, vehicles, small gatherings, and specific worker applications. Mobile canopy shelters also exist for some of these applications, however, few canopy systems exist that shelter numerous people participating in outdoor activities such as golf. Canopy tents are designed to be easily, simply and quickly pitched or closed, and so they have been preferably used for outdoor applications, such as during camping or fishing.
